Abu Dhabi GP | | | | | | | | Tough season tough finale Yas Marina, 01st October 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen and Giancarlo Fisichella finished the final race of the 2009 season in twelfth and sixteenth places respectively, at the end of a very difficult weekend, when Scuderia Ferrari F1 Marlboro never had a really competitive car for its drivers. A shame, on what was not only the last race of the year, but also the last appearance of both the Finn and the Italian in the cockpit of a Prancing Horse F1 car. The final round of the 2009 World Championship got underway around 45 minutes before sunset, as Abu Dhabi staged the first ever day-to-night race under floodlights, at this amazing new facility of Yas Marina. Kimi was in eleventh place on the grid and Giancarlo in twentieth ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Brazilian GP | | | | | | | | One more chance Interlagos, 18 October 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen picked up three points for finishing the Brazilian Grand Prix in sixth place and Giancarlo Fisichella brought his F60 home in eleventh spot. With Lewis Hamilton finishing third, the situation is that Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has slipped to fourth place in the Constructors’ championship, just one point behind McLaren-Mercedes. That means there is just one more chance – at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in a fortnight’s time, at the final race of the season, for the Scuderia to reach its long-stated aim of finishing third in the Constructors’ Championship ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Japanese GP | | | | | | | | Five points in the bag Suzuka GP, 4th October 2009 - Five points in the bag for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro in the Japanese Grand Prix, where Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth and Giancarlo Fisichella brought the car home in twelfth place. With two more races to go, the Scuderia is still third in the Constructors’ classification, even though the gap to our closest rival has come down to just two points ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Singapore GP | | | | | | | | A tough time at night Singapore GP, 27th September 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen finished the Singapore Grand Prix in tenth place, while his Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team-mate, Giancarlo Fisichella came home in thirteenth place. Having qualified in 12th and 17th places respectively, there was never a realistic chance of a great result on a street circuit, where overtaking is virtually impossible. Even the inevitable intervention of a Safety Car did nothing to improve the Scuderia duo’s situation ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Italian GP | | | | | | | | Last minute podium Monza, 13th September 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen finished the 53 lap Italian Grand Prix, in third place, but his appearance on the podium at the Prancing Horse’s home race was in doubt until the very last lap. His Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella just missed out on a points place crossing the line ninth. The race was dominated by the Brawn team, who finished first and second, Rubens Barrichello, taking his second win of the year, ahead of Jenson Button. With four races remaining, Ferrari is still third in the Constructors’ classification, with 15 points in hand over McLaren ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Belgian GP | | | | | | | | Ferrari victory! Spa-Francorchamps, 30th August 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen won the Belgian Grand Prix, to give Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro its first win of the season, and Kimi his fourth podium of 2009.Luca Badoer finished 14th. It is the fourth time the Finn has won at this classic track. Kimi started from the outside of Row 3 and Luca from the back row of what was the most unexpected grid of the year, with the Force India of Giancarlo Fisichella on pole and the Toyota of Jarno Trulli alongside him. It was dry with some sunshine and an air temperature of 17 degrees ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
European GP | | | | | | | | Another podium Valencia, 23rd August 2009 - Just before the summer break, Kimi Raikkonen finished second in Budapest and today, the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver was on the podium again, this time in third place after a strong drive. On his debut for the Scuderia, Luca Badoer brought his F60 home in seventeenth spot. After Ferrari’s Felipe Massa won the inaugural race at Valencia last year, today, Rubens Barrichello ensured that the Brazilian National Anthem was played again, as he took his first win for Brawn, his first victory since his days as a Ferrari driver. Second place went to the McLaren-Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. While this result keeps the Scuderia in third place in the Constructors’ championship, McLaren’s return to form in recent races means the Anglo-German team is now only five points behind in fourth ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Hungarian GP | | | | | | | | Third in the Championship Hungarioring - 26th June 2009 - After the terrible Massa incident yesterday, Kimi Raikkonen delivered Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro a fantastic morale boosting second place podium finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix, his second podium of the season and the team’s third. Once again, KERS played a decisive role, as the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro man was able to move up three places at the start. The race was won by Lewis Hamilton, taking his and the McLaren-Mercedes team’s first victory of the year. Joining them on the podium was Mark Webber for Red Bull Renault. The eight points that come with second place, see Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro move into third place, overtaking Toyota in the Constructors’ Championship. Sporting Director Stefano Domenicali dedicated the second place result to Felipe Massa ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
German GP | | | | | | | | Second podium Nuerburgring, 12th July 2009 - Felipe Massa started the second half of his 2009 campaign in fine style, with his first podium and the team's second of the season, when he finished the German Grand Prix in third place. Kimi was forced to retire with a mechanical problem, having completed 34 laps. The race was won by Mark Webber, the Red Bull Renault driver thus securing his first ever grand prix victory in his eighth season of Formula 1. He finished ahead of his team-mate Sebastian Vettel. In the Constructors’ classification, the Scuderia is still fourth, now only 2.5 points behind Toyota( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
British GP | | | | | | | | Better than expected Silverstone 21st June 2009 - Felipe Massa put in a fantastic drive at Silverstone to finish the British Grand Prix in fourth place, quite an achievement from eleventh on the starting grid. His Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen, picked up the final point for eighth place, having started ninth. Possibly because of the slightly warmer conditions today, the F60 performed better than yesterday and better than expected. On the podium, it was the Red Bull Renaults that dominated the event, securing a one-two courtesy of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. On the last step of the rostrum was Rubens Barrichello for Brawn McLaren. ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Turkish GP | | | | | | | | Lap 1 of 58 was the key Istanbul, 7th june 2009 - Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro finished the Turkish Grand Prix with a sixth place and 3 points for Felipe Massa and a ninth place for Kimi Raikkonen. The team remains fourth in the Constructors’ championship, 12.5 points adrift of Toyota. An incident packed opening lap is what upset the race for the two Ferrari men, followed by a race pace that was far from optimum. The race was won by Jenson Button, who has now been victorious in sixth out of seven races. It looked for a while as though the Red Bull cars might challenge him, but an early mistake from Vettel saw the German end up third, behind his team-mate Mark Webber. Race day was the hottest of the whole weekend, with air temperature over 30 degrees as the cars lined up on the grid, with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa in sixth and seventh places on the grid for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Monaco GP | | | | | | | | A first podium Montecarlo, 24th May 2009 - Scuderia Ferrari F1 Marlboro secured its first podium finish of the season, thanks to Kimi Raikkonen’s determined drive to third place and Felipe Massa finished right behind him, to give the Scuderia its best finish of the season. This solid result sees the team move up to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. Jenson Button’s incredible season continues as the Englishman took his fifth win from six starts and his Brawn team mate, Rubens Barrichello was second. As the cars lined up on the grid, Kimi was on the front row in second place and Felipe was on the pole side in fifth place. Button was on pole in the Brawn and Kimi was starting with a lower fuel load than the Englishman. Glock was starting from the pits in the Toyota ( text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Spanish GP | | | | | | | | Quick but fragile Montmelo, 10 May 2009 - Felipe Massa finally scored points for the first time this season, picking up the three that go with sixth place in the Spanish Grand Prix. The Brazilian appeared to be heading for a fourth place finish, maybe even a podium, but he slithered down to sixth in the closing stages due to a fuelling problem, which meant he had to slow to save fuel. His team-mate Kimi Raikkonen had climbed up the order until he looked set for a points finish, but an accelerator problem forced him to retire on lap 17. The race was dominated by the Brawn team with Jenson Button winning from Rubens Barrichello, with Red Bull’s Mark Webber joining them on the podium (text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Bahrain GP | | | | | | | | Points at last! Sakhir, 26th April 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen finished the Bahrain Grand Prix in sixth place, driving an attacking race to bring home the first points of the season, (three) for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. Felipe Massa finished fourteenth, an early nose change ruining his race, so an improvement, albeit a small one in terms of performance and reliability, as the first part of this long campaign ends and the European season begins in Spain in a fortnight. But 3 points means the blank scoreboard now has some numbers on it. In the past, the move to Europe was often considered the “real” start of the championship. With significant aerodynamic updates due to be fitted to the F60 when it appears at the Circuit de Catalunya, this will be the fervent hope of everyone at Ferrari (text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Chinese GP | | | | | | | | Still no points when a podium looked possible Shanghai, 19th April 2009 - Kimi Raikkonen finished the Chinese Grand Prix in tenth place, while Felipe Massa retired on the twenty first lap, parking his F60 at the side of the track, with an electrical problem, when he looked to be heading for a third place, following a fantastic drive up to that point. The race ended in a one-two finish, for the Red Bull Racing team, securing its first ever F1 win, courtesy of Sebastian Vettel, with team-mate Mark Webber second. Joining them on the podium was the championship leader, Brawn GP’s Jenson Button (text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Australian GP | | | | | | | | A pointless start Melbourne, 29th March 2009 - The Australian Grand Prix often provides a surprise result and it did so again today, but it was not a pleasant surprise for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, as the team failed to score a single point, with both Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen retiring from the 58 lap race, the Brazilian on lap 45, with a broken nose support and the Finn two laps from the finish with a differential problem, although Kimi was actually classified sixteenth (text and photos by Ferrari Media Center).
Sakhir test | | | | | | | | Massa fastest at Sakhir After eight days and more than 3,500 kilometres the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro's test sessions, held at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain, have come to an end. Felipe Massa was the driver who started and ended the sessions at the Persian Gulf. Today the Brazilian went on the track for an in-depth analysis of the several set up options for the F60, experimenting with some aerodynamic solutions and continuing with the engine and gearbox reliability work. Apart from some minor hiccups - the worst in the morning when the single-seater had an electrical problem and Felipe had to stop next to the track - the planned work was brought to an end. Today the Brazilian drove 113 laps, the fastest in a time of 1.32.162, the best time of the day, ahead of Nick Heidfeld (1.32.225, 122 laps) and Timo Glock (1.32.445, 65 laps). F1 Ferrari F60 | | | | | | | | Ferrari F1 F60's debut on a cold and sunny day 12th January 2009 10:35am: the sound of the 056, the new F60's engine, interrupts the silence at the Mugello circuit's box. Just one lap for the new single-seater of the Prancing Horse, which has its first outing today at its official debut, with more laps later on. Felipe Massa, the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro's Brazilian driver, met the press in the afternoon, after the first day of testing with the new F60 at the Mugello circuit. These are his first impressions of the new single-seater: "This car is completely different from the one we had last year. Many rules have changed and they are all visible, the impact of the rules, such as the introduction of the KERS, the changed aerodynamics; all these things make it very different for us all to drive (text and photos by Ferrari F1 Media Center).
