848 PRESS
LAUNCH
The
new 848 enjoys all the performance advancements of the entire Superbike
family, while adding its own innovations to redefine the middleweight sport
bike class. The words ‘agile’ and ‘refined’ aptly describe the 848. At 168kg
(369lbs) the 848 is an amazing 20kg (44lbs) lighter than its predecessor,
and a significant 5kg (11lbs) lighter than its larger capacity brother, the
1098. The highly advanced 848 engine uses an improved method of engine case
production in which cases are vacuum die-cast formed. While providing
significant weight savings of more than 3kg (6.5lbs), this method also
ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. Further
refinements include a sophisticated wet clutch that offers 1kg (2.2lbs) less
weight, a much higher service life, improved clutch feel and quiet
operation. With the first twist of the wrist, the powerful rush of the
Testastretta Evoluzione engine confirms that the rules have changed. The
848’s 134hp is not only 30% more powerful than its predecessor, but it
provides a power-to-weight ratio even better than the potent 999.More info on

DUCATI MONSTER 696
PREVIEW
The
new Ducati Monster 696 is the next generation naked and the final word in
urban excitement. Ride the Monster 696 around your favourite downtown routes
in relaxed style or, when the spirit moves you, unleash its dark side to
deliver more naked performance than ever before. Refined style and design
are the clear motivations behind the new Monster and the continued
perfection of the Desmo engine ensures that its ‘saint and sinner’ image
will impress any rider. A comfortable and confidence-inspiring chassis
combine with the famously smooth and powerful Ducati L-Twin engine to
provide the most enjoyable riding experience. The balance of new
technologies expressed in stylishly finished materials is shaped around the
original cool Monster heritage. The 696 ergonomics have been improved with
subtle but effective changes to the riding position. A shorter reach to the
bars and a slightly lower, more forward footpeg position, together with the
lowest seat height of any Ducati and a reduction in weight, empowers any
rider to become the master of this Monster. The engine of the new 696 is an
evolution of the previous 695 version. Measuring 696cc it boasts a series of
updates and refinements. Power output gets a 9% boost to 80 hp (59 kW) and

STONER & CAPIROSSI STORM THE
ISLAND TO WIN CONSTRUCTORS' & TEAMS' WORLD TITLES
Ducati
MotoGP Team riders Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi stormed Phillip Island
today, scoring a stunning one-two result that secures the constructors'
World Championship for the legendary Italian factory and also the team's
World Championship for the Borgo-Panigale-based squad. Riding his first race
as riders' World Champion, Stoner led from start to finish while Japanese GP
winner Capirossi fought through from fifth place on the first lap. It was an
immaculate and dominant performance from Aussie Stoner who was cheered all
the way by an ecstatic 50,000 crowd. At one point he led the pack by almost
eight seconds, eventually crossing the line 6.763 seconds ahead of his
team-mate. Stoner's ninth victory of the year is also the team's fifth win
from the past six races and the Ducati's tenth win of this season. Stoner,
who topped all but one of the five pre-race track sessions here, celebrates
his 22nd birthday on Tuesday. Ducati is the first non-Japanese manufacturer
to win the premier-class constructors' title since 1973, when MV Agusta were
champions.

LORIS CAPIROSSI SCORES GREAT
MOTEGI WIN, CASEY STONER 2007 WORLD CHAMPION
Sunday
Sep 23 2007. The Ducati MotoGp Team enjoyed its greatest day in Japan today,
Casey Stoner securing Ducati's first MotoGP World Championship and Loris
Capirossi winning the race, run in tricky conditions on a drying track. The
result triggered scenes of unbridled joy in the Ducati MotoGp Team pit, in
the more than one thousand fans who watched the race in the Borgo Panigale
Factory with the CEO Gabriele Del Torchio among them and in all the
Ducatistis around the world. Australian genius Stoner had to finish today's
race ahead of Valentino Rossi to wrap up the title with three GPs remaining,
and he did that, no problem, finishing sixth after leading the early stages.
The race couldn't have been more nerve-wracking: it started on a slightly
damp track, most riders choosing rain tyres, then the circuit dried out
enough for riders to swap to slick-equipped bikes. Capirossi was one of the
first riders to switch, at the end of lap nine, and his strategy paid rich
dividends, the 2005 and 2006 Japanese GP winner going on to score a Motegi
hat-trick, 10.853 seconds ahead of his closest rival. Stoner swapped bikes
at the end of lap 14 and maintained his renowned cool to become the second
youngest premier-class World Champion, after American legend Freddie
Spencer. So far this year Stoner has won eight races, taken three further
podium finished and scored five pole positions. CASEY STONER, 6th, 2007
MotoGP World Champion on 297 points.

time of the day for the qualifying sessions. This is the first championship
victory for the new bike from Borgo Panigale, the Ducati 1098s. In the 600
Category, after an unlucky season, Romana Fede, on her 749R, managed to take
the well-deserved absolute second place behind the unstoppable Iris Ten

DESMOSEDICI RR ON TRACK
As
the world’s first true MotoGP replica, the Ducati Desmosedici RR has an
impressive specification, at the heart of which beats the record-breaking
989cc L-four Desmodromic engine in twin-pulse configuration. Technical
features taken directly from the racing GP6 include the sand-cast aluminium
crankcases and magnesium engine covers which enclose a cassette type
six-speed gearbox and hydraulically actuated dry multi-plate slipper clutch.
Additional replications that contribute to the 200hp produced in standard
trim are double overhead cams, actuating 4 titanium valves per cylinder,
gear driven from a crankshaft which has titanium connecting rods. One
feature of the Desmosedici RR which represents a unique ground-breaking
design is the ‘vertical exit’ exhaust silencer, ingeniously hidden in the
tail-piece. Orders for the limited production machine flooded in via the
official Ducati dealer network as soon as the machine was unveiled at the
Mugello GP in 2006. The motorcycle is now undergoing final development tests
before going into production this autumn as scheduled. More

DUCATI 1098 VOTED BEST DESIGN
OF 2006 BY THE MOTORCYCLE DESIGN ASSOCIATION
This
is the second year Ducati achieved consecutively this prestigious award. The
1098 Superbike was launched to the world at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in
Milan in November 2006 and, with the 1098 S Tricolore winning the “Most
Beautiful Motorcycle in Show” award, was an immediate success. The 1098 is
the lightest, fastest stopping, quickest lapping Ducati in history. For the
first time Ducati MotoGP and World Superbike technology have been combined
to create a premier street bike. The results are stunning. The 1098 will get
the striking yellow scheme, matched with black wheels and a grey frame. The
vibrant midnight black color is available for the 1098 S, paired with a red
frame and red-trimmed black wheels. Dark aluminum badging will adorn both
color schemes. Both colours will be available starting in March 2007.

DUCATI SPORTCLASSIC
For
2007, the SportClassic family boasts three new versions. As well as the
traditional, sporty ‘monoposto’, the Sport 1000 will also be produced as a
‘biposto’ with a comfortable dual-seat for both rider and pillion to enjoy.
So as to have the best of both worlds, the Sport 1000 biposto comes complete
with a removable rear seat-cover so as to retain that perfect Café Racer
style when riding solo. A further biposto version is the new Sport 1000 S.
Using a classically shaped half-fairing with central round headlamp in
keeping with the 70s styling, the new model uses a seductively simple new
colour scheme of red bodywork, red Trellis frame and swingarm with
contrasting black alloy engine covers and black wheels rims to mimic that
early racing style. As well as its two traditional colours of red and grey,
the GT 1000 will also be presented in a new two-tone livery of
metallic-black and cream, which recalls the original designs of this Ducati
grand tourer. More info

DUCATI MONSTER
Ducati
has always believed in the ‘naked’ bike concept. Indeed, it represents a
sector not only first created by the Italian company, but an area where they
continue to produce innovative, exciting and original ideas, setting trends
that others follow. Having already achieved record sales and long been the
most admired and widely imitated motorcycles, Ducati is now extending its
Monster range still further for 2007 by focusing on the SR series, known to
motorcyclists as the “single-sided swingarm” family and distinguished by its
aggressive and exclusive appearance. The 2007 Monster family also adds the
new S4R Testastretta to its already impressive line-up. This brand new model
is powered by the famous 130hp Testastretta, deep-sump, L-Twin engine,
previously powering only the top of the range S4R S. Another newcomer for
2007 is the Monster 695 which replaces the 620 with a quantum leap forward
in terms of handling, riding pleasure and performance. The potent new 695cc
L-Twin delivers much greater horsepower and torque – the highest output per
cc of any Ducati air-cooled engine –making every twist of the throttle
exciting and satisfying. More info

aggressive like a sport bike when the road turns twisty, yet smooth and
relaxed when scenery beckons. For 2007, the
Multistrada features a potent new 1100 Desmo engine with a quieter more
robust ‘wet’ clutch, comfort enhancing vibration-isolated handlebars, and a
new maintenance program that reduces costs by as much as 50% -- the

DUCATI HYPERMOTARD
The
Hypermotard 1100 takes on urban canyons and attacks mountain curves with
total abandon. Its purpose is single-minded – to thrill.
Its ‘motard’ styling and stance combine with Ducati’s ‘sportsbike’
smooth and powerful L-Twin engine to deliver the best of both these two
motorcycling worlds. With a riding position to dominate, the exceptionally
slim, compact and incredibly light Hypermotard is ready to take on every
road with big-bore acceleration. High performance
starts with attitude and the Hypermotard packs the most aggressive attitude
of the entire Ducati range. Reduced to its essentials, it’s an extreme
performance, over-the-top motorcycle that’s just looking for action. This
bike offers what no supermotard can: speeds exceeding 200kph (125mph) on the
race track, fuel injection, and over 95hp – all combined with Ducati’s
unmistakeable passion for engineering a motorcycle that stands apart.

DUCATI DESMOSEDICI RR
The
dream of a real GP replica has finally come true as the Desmosedici RR will
be the first ever road-going motorcycle to offer the stunning performance
and technology taken directly from MotoGP. The RR is derived from the Ducati
Corse Grand Prix racing Desmosedici GP6, the same bike which Loris Capirossi
and Sete Gibernau have used to compete in the 2006 MotoGP World
Championship. The Mugello launch was the perfect
occasion to reveal the shape and the technical characteristics with which
the bike will arrive on the market, confirming the high technological
features of this exclusive and esoteric machine. The RR is scheduled to
arrive on the market in July 2007 with Ducati 999R owners receiving delivery
priority. More info

DUCATI 1098
The
priority in every step of the 1098 development has been performance first.
Every system, every detail and every component has been studied and pared
down to its essence and performance increased to the maximum. If it didn’t
make the 1098 lighter, faster or deliver quicker lap times, it wasn’t
considered. This incredible new machine designed and built in Borgo Panigale
produces 160hp and 12.5kgm of torque. The result: the 1098 is the most
powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle in the world with the highest
torque-to-weight ratio of any sport bike. The 1098 is the lightest, fastest
stopping, quickest lapping Ducati in history. For the first time Ducati
MotoGP and World Superbike technology have been combined to create a premier
street bike. More info
