Valencia 29 Oct 06
Ducati's recently crowned World Superbike champion led from start to finish in a one-off ride replacing the injured Sete Gibernau, while Capirossi came through from third on the first lap to shadow his team-mate to the flag. Along the way Capirossi smashed the lap record, secured the team's first one-two MotoGP finish and took third overall in the World Championship, the Ducati Marlboro Team's best finish in the MotoGP riders' series.

The race was a perfect end to the 990cc Desmosedici project that started so well at Suzuka 2003, where Capirossi scored a podium result first time out. Bayliss' brilliant win brings the team's total of MotoGP wins to seven, the other six won by Capirossi in 2003, 2005 and at this year's Spanish, Czech and Japanese GPs.

Estoril 15 Oct 06
The Ducati Marlboro Team was very much out of luck at Estoril today, Loris Capirossi struggling home in 12th position, Sete Gibernau knocked down by another rider. The pair were set for a challenging race anyway, Gibernau having qualified eighth quickest yesterday, Capirossi tenth. Both men made great starts, Capirossi completing the first lap in sixth place, just ahead of Gibernau, but that was as good as it got. On lap two Casey Stoner crashed at Turn Four, right in front of Gibernau, who couldn't avoid Stoner's fallen bike, careering over the top of the machine and landing heavily. The Spaniard, who was taken immediately to the Clinica Mobile for treatment, sustained a broken bone in his right hand and further damage to the left collarbone he broke in June. Capirossi held fifth for several laps but then slipped backwards due to rear grip problems.

Motegi 24 Sept 06
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Loris Capirossi scored a majestic victory at sun-blessed Motegi this afternoon, beating his 2005 race-winning time by a massive 17 seconds to record his second consecutive Japanese Grand Prix success. Team-mate Sete Gibernau had a fine ride to fourth, just 1.3 seconds away from scoring his first podium for the team. Capirossi was in breathtaking form, starting from pole position and leading from the first lap to the chequered flag, gradually building an advantage over his closest rivals Marco Melandri and Valentino Rossi. And when Rossi moved past Melandri into second and tried to make a run on the leader, Capirossi responded in devastating fashion, recording a 1m 47.5s lap with just five laps remaining to put the matter beyond doubt! He crossed the line a full five seconds ahead of Rossi to move into fourth place in the championship, 31 points down on the series leader with two races to go.

Philip Island 17 Sept 06
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Sete Gibernau lost his first podium finish for the team during the final few metres of this afternoon's Australian GP, run in tricky dry, wet and half wet and dry conditions. Gibernau finished the race just 0.089 seconds outside third place. Team-mate Loris Capirossi also suffered in the chaotic conditions, ending up in seventh position.Following the start, briefly delayed after the first spots of rain fell, Gibernau stormed through from the fourth row to take second place on lap two and began eating into Shinya Nakano's lead. But after five laps the rain intensified, most riders entering the pits at the end of lap eight to swap to their spare bikes equipped with rain tyres.

Sepang 10 Sept 06
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Loris Capirossi scored a thrilling second-place finish in today's searing-hot Marlboro Malaysian Grand Prix after a spectacular duel with World Champion Valentino Rossi. Team-mate Sete Gibernau completed a great day for the team, finishing fifth in his first race for seven weeks. Capirossi's stunning ride was his sixth top-three finish of the year and moved him to fourth in the title chase, 43 points behind leader Nicky Hayden. Starting from the front row of the grid after two days of hard work, the Italian was third after the first lap, moved into the lead on lap three and then settled into an enthralling contest with Rossi, the pair swapping places time and again, the lead changing for the last time on the last lap. Capirossi ended the race 0.849 seconds down on Rossi, having established a new lap record on lap ten.

Brno 20 Aug 06
Ducati Marlboro Team rider Loris Capirossi rode a remarkable race at Brno today, leaving the rest of the MotoGP grid trailing in his wake for his second victory of 2006. The Italian led from start to finish, increasing his advantage at an astonishing rate until he was eighth seconds ahead, he then eased his pace to win by a very comfortable 4.9 seconds. Team-mate Alex Hofmann, subbing for the injured Sete Gibernau, had a more difficult race, finishing 16th.

Laguna Seca  24 Jul 06
The Ducati Team today ended a difficult weekend with a double top-ten result at searing-hot Laguna Seca, Loris Capirossi coming home eighth, team-mate Sete Gibernau in tenth as temperatures nudged 40 degrees.
The race was a gruelling endurance test for men, machines and tyres, especially for Capirossi and Gibernau who never managed to get the best out of their bike/tyre package at this unusual racetrack. More then 3.000 ducatisti watched at the race from Ducati Island tribune. Nick Hayden (USA) won the race, Pedrosa second and Melandri in third place.

Sachsenring 16 Jul 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau were in the thick of the two leading battles at the Sachsenring today, the Italian and the Spaniard eventually coming home fifth and eighth.
Capirossi spent the first half of the race with the leading group but faded slightly in the later stages, crossing the finish line just eight seconds down on the race winner. Gibernau made a brave comeback following recent collarbone surgery, running with the group fighting for seventh, despite a weak left shoulder. The 2006 MotoGP World Championship now travels to Laguna Seca, California, for next Sunday's United States Grand Prix, the fifth race in sixth weekends.

Donington 2 Jul 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Alex Hofmann rode to dogged ninth- and 13th-place finishes at warm and muggy Donington Park this afternoon. Capirossi finished the race exhausted and in pain, due to the chest injuries he sustained at Catalunya two weeks ago. After struggling to 15th at Assen last weekend, the Italian missed one practice session here (Friday afternoon) in a bid to rest himself for today's race but the 30-lap outing was still an endurance test for him. Hofmann, riding his second race with the team as substitute to Sete Gibernau, who broke a collarbone at Catalunya, never quite found the pace he was aiming for. Capirossi now has almost two weeks in which to recuperate from his injuries and get ready for the German Grand Prix, round ten of this year's 17-event MotoGP series.

Assen 22-23-24 Jun 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Alex Hofmann endured a difficult Dutch TT today, Capirossi finishing 15th while suffering badly from recent injuries, Hofmann taking a 12th-place finish in his first race on the Desmosedici GP6 after just two days of practice. Capirossi, who led the World Championship going into last Sunday's Catalan GP where he was brought down in a nasty turn-one crash, struggled with agonising chest pains and lack of upper-body strength. He was rewarded with a single World Championship point for his brave efforts. Hofmann, subbing for Sete Gibernau who broke a collarbone in that same Catalunya accident, lost time during the early stages of the race but recovered well to finish just 2.5 seconds outside the top ten.

Catalunya 16-17-18 Jun 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau had a disastrous day at Catalunya today, both men crashing out in a turn-one multiple pile-up. The crash, which claimed a total of five riders, left Capirossi battered and bruised, with Gibernau suffering concussion and a fractured left collarbone. Marco Melandri, the only other victim of the first-corner melee to sustain injury, suffered concussion and a dislocated shoulder.Capirossi was taken by helicopter to Catalunya General Hospital, attended by the Clinica Mobile's Dr Mattioli Ruggero. Capirossi will remain in hospital overnight for observation, he could be fit for next weekend's Dutch TT at Assen. He sustained no broken bones in the fall.Gibernau was less lucky. He will need an operation to fix the minor fracture to his left collarbone. Surgeons will replace a plate inserted after an earlier accident with a larger plate, but they will wait 24 hours before the operation, due to his concussion. It is too soon to say when he will be able to race again.

Mugello 2-3-4 Jun 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau played starring roles in today's enthralling Italian Grand Prix, both riders leading to the delight of the Italian fans before finally finishing second and fifth. Capirossi came back brilliantly from a sluggish start to take the lead on lap 15. From there he fought a thrilling duel with compatriot Valentino Rossi, ending the race just 0.575 seconds down to retake the World Championship lead, though equal on points with third-place finisher Nicky Hayden. During the early stages Gibernau was Rossi's biggest threat, the Spaniard leading on several occasions before the toe-slider on his right boot got damaged. Capirossi and Gibernau raced with special livery to celebrate three anniversaries: Ducati's 80th birthday, the 60th anniversary of the company starting motorcycle production and the 50th anniversary of its first use of the desmodromic valve system.

Le Mans 19-20-21 May 06
Loris Capirossi summoned all his riding powers to secure a second place finish for the Ducati Marlboro Team at the French MotoGP race, making a determined move forward from third on the very last lap of a dramatic race. Ducati Marlboro Team rider Sete Gibernau was pushed off the track in a first lap incident but stayed upright and recovered his composure quickly, going from 16th on lap one to eighth at the end. It was Capirossi's 32nd career podium, and puts him third in the championship, equal second on points with Le Mans race winner Marco Melandri, on 79 points.

Shanghai 12-13-14 May 06
Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau endured a difficult Chinese GP at Shanghai this afternoon, placing eighth and ninth at the end of a weekend plagued by changeable weather. Both men had to be happy with lower results than they had expected after making poor tyre choices, but they did at least maintain their World Championship positions, Capirossi still holding second overall on points, Gibernau still tenth.
Pedrosa on Honda won the race.

Istanbul 28-29-30 Apr 06
Ducati Team riders Capirossi and Gibernau endured a challenging race at Istanbul Park, finishing 6th and 11th. The result was much less than the team had expected after performances in practice and qualifying. Gibernau had high hopes after placing third in yesterday's wet qualifier and leading dry warm-up. He looked in superb form in the early stages of the race, leading from the first turn until the end of lap 11, when tyre concerns began to push him down the order. Capirossi, who went into the race leading the World Championship, also had reason to expect another result after qualifying fourth and placing third in warm-up. He battled hard throughout, ending the first lap in seventh, then slipping to eighth before fighting back to sixth on the final lap. Capirossi goes into round four in China in two weeks holding second overall, just one point behind Nicky Hayden. The race, run in cool but dry conditions was won by Italian Marco Melandri.

Qatar 6-7-8 Apr 06
Loris Capirossi continued his great early season form to take third place at Losail, keeping his name at the top of the championship table after a strong ride in high winds. Sete Gibernau overcame his third row start to take an assured fourth place, and earn his first points of the year; his first score as a Ducati Marlboro rider. Capirossi was part of the leading group throughout the 22-laps, conserving his tyres for a late push to ensure third, and finished only 1.494 seconds from the winner, Valentino Rossi. For Gibernau, one particular section of the circuit proved difficult in race conditions, but still he improved his qualifying result by three places. Capirossi, the race victor in the opening race of the season at Jerez, now sits on 41 points, in a five-point lead over Nicky Hayden, second in the race as well as second overall. Ducati also continues to lead the Constructors' Championship.

Jerez 24-25-26 Mar 06
Loris Capirossi won today's season-opening Spanish GP in brilliant style to put the Ducati Marlboro Team at the top of the MotoGP points table for the first time in history. But it was a day of mixed emotions for the team with Sete Gibernau withdrawing due to a gear sensor problem which affected his bike's electronics. Capirossi and Gibernau had qualified first and second fastest, with Gibernau quickest in this morning's warm-up session, so the team had high hopes of a double podium result. Capirossi led the race from start to finish to beat runner-up Dani Pedrosa by 4.375 seconds and completed a perfect weekend: pole position, race win and fastest lap. Today's victory was the Italian's fourth MotoGP success for the Ducati Marlboro Team, his sixth premier class triumph and his 26th career win.
